From the moment you step into Kres, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a different era. Its contemporary style decor is merged with the classic architecture of the historic Kress building with high ceilings, plush seating, and elegant chandeliers. Kres opened its doors on Church Street over 21 years ago and continues to flourish.  “We’re not your typical steakhouse.” says Kres General Manager, Heidi Skehan. ”We have energy and unique foods, and everything is made from scratch. What sets us apart from everyone else is having a great culture and staff, and loving what we do. We are cutting edge, we took time to learn how to be better and strengthen our community through food.”

One of the highlights of Kres Chophouse is its extensive wine list. With over 200 bottles to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect pairing for your meal. The restaurant also has knowledgeable and attentive staff who are more than happy to help you select a wine that will complement your dish. Kres’s wine list is unique to the restaurant, and their team helps creates it. “Kres’s bar has an extensive wine list. We do tastings every Saturday with the staff. We look through our menu, see what we like, look at our (staff) polls, and that’s how our wine makes the list.” says Heidi.

Of course, the real star of the show at Kres Chophouse is the food. The menu is focused on high-quality cuts of meat, but there are also plenty of other options for non-meat eaters. If you’re a seafood lover, you’ll be pleased to find a variety of fresh seafood options, including lobster, scallops, and shrimp. Vegetarians will appreciate the selection of vegetable sides and salads, as well as the creative vegetarian entrees.

“Were beyond just steaks, we are an overall great restaurant,” says Mari Fonseca—, Head Chef at Kres Chophouse.  “All our ingredients and everything that we purchase is the highest of quality, they are all imported, or the highest of quality you can get– antibiotic-free, no hormones. Everything is broken down in-house. You get the red carpet with the food.”

But for the carnivores among us, the steaks are the main attraction. Kres Chophouse offers a variety of cuts, from filet mignon to bone-in ribeye to Wagyu beef. Each steak is aged and cut in-house, and cooked to perfection. The made-from-scratch sides and sauces are also a highlight of their frequently changing menu options.

One-of-a-kind wine lists and high-quality ingredients aren’t the only things that make Kres so special. When it comes down to it, the team at Kres is what makes this restaurant a true gem. Like a well-oiled machine, the staff works together to provide an above-and-beyond experience for guests that will have any foodie coming back over and over again. “You’re in good company, and you’re enjoying yourself – you try different wines, and cocktails – you get appetizers, and a steak. It’s an experience,” says Mari. “Working as a team to try to produce the best experience for the guest,  that’s really what it’s all about, isn’t it?  You come into a restaurant and you want to trust what you’re getting is high quality, and it’s good and fresh, and being made every day, and in turn, the front of the house, the servers, and wait staff know how to create that experience for you as well.”

“We have such an amazing team,” says Heidi. “Finding like-minded people that are trying to achieve the same goal and have the same vision – is really hard, and far and few. So I really have to say working with the owner,  working with the corporate chef, working with Heidi, working with the team, that’s what makes this so great.” says Mari. “That’s what makes this happen.”
