City District Main Street
City District Main Street is located in the heart of Orlando’s central business district, encompassing downtown’s historic landmarks, urban design, and a vibrant entertainment scene.
Nestled between city skyscrapers is architecture dating back to the mid 1800’s – a tribute to the rich history of our “City Beautiful”. From award-winning venues, intimate galleries, and exciting nightlife, City District Main Street offers unique experiences at every corner.
Main Street - A Movement
In 2008, Mayor Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando Council implemented the Orlando Main Street program to serve as an economic backbone for Commercial Districts within city limits operating under the nationally accredited Main Street AmericaTM program. As an accredited Main Street, City District is part of a network of more than 1,500 neighborhoods and communities nationwide that share a commitment to creating high-quality places and building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. Each Orlando Main Street district operates as an individual non-profit organization under the city’s coordinating program following a tried and true 4-point approach to community revitalization. Orlando Main Street Districts receive intensive training, guidance, and leadership to provide economic support and development, increase community connection, and create a thriving and healthy community.
